A couple of days spent in London is always both expensive and interesting. On this October trip we had booked tickets to see the Imperial War Rooms from where the British commanded their forces during WWII. It was quite fascinating and we had booked admission tickets on line so we didn’t have to be in the long lines waiting to get in.
I found it surprising to see how small and frankly miserable the conditions must have been for Churchill and his team in essentially an underground bunker. The rooms had been locked up at the end of the war and it was only fairly recently that they had been reopened. Ration cards of staff were still in desk drawers and bunks still made up.
If you have an interest in London during the second world war, the War Rooms can give you an atmospheric look back to those days.
All the pictures here were close to the Imperial War Rooms at Whitehall. And then we were off again on the Chunnel to France!
